Flying High February 2017

Shannon Briltz

Shannon BrilzShannon Brilz is the embodiment of what a MBN Flying High Award winner should be.  She is a strong yet humble female leader, wife, mother of two beautiful children Tyler and Addison, coach, business owner of JB Drywall with her husband, assistant director of MT Event Services, cheerleader of women, good friend, volunteer, and an active community member.

I agree wholeheartedly with Liz’s praise of Shannon.  Our office truly looks up to her as she graciously puts our needs ahead of hers, making it obvious that she is on our side if we need her.  The University of Montana is lucky to have Shannon looking out for the staff, students, and event guests.

Shannon has been an active part of MBN for the past 10 years.  She was the Directory Editor on the Synergy Board from 2012-2016, she participated on the Awards Committee from 2013-2016, and she has played an active role in the annual Women’s Symposium as a business sponsor, exhibitor, and attendee for many years.  Shannon also encourages our office to actively participate in MBN wherever possible.  She allowed us to sponsor and host the 2016 Spring Social and 30th Anniversary party at the University Center Ballroom.

Shannon is also active in the community in many other ways as well.  She has volunteered with the Big Sky Band Parents Council, Hawthorne PTA, Missoula First Night Steering Committee, YWCA Monthly Dinners, and has been a JDRF Walk Team Leader.  She is a UM Staff Ambassadors graduate, member of ACCED-I, member of ACUI, Destination Missoula Member, and currently serves on the Glacier Country Tourism Board.  She does all this while navigating the many activities her children are in.  Addison swims, skis, does ballet, and soccer.  Tyler has been part of speech and debate and plays baseball.  It is obvious how proud of her children she is and what an amazing job she does guiding them through the process of growing up.  The adoration is clearly mutual.

It’s obvious to everyone around her why Shannon has been chosen for the Flying High Award.  Please join me in thanking and congratulating Shannon for her contributions to MBN and the Community.  You are truly appreciated Shannon!

Congratulations to the February 2017 MBN Flying High Award Winner, Shannon Brilz.
